File Import Upload Utility

This utility is designed to assist Administrators with uploading data for import into Enrollment Manager. This utility is found on the Admin menu.This information is designed for full suite users of Enrollment Manager. If you are using Enrollment Manager only for Email, please see the section on Importing for Email Marketing Clients.

Using the Import Upload Utility

To import files that are in a pre-defined format (Standard Import, SAT, ACT, etc), follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Admin-->Utilities-->File Imports.
  • Click on New.
  • Select your file type.
  • Click Browse to select your file.
  • Click Upload.

Once your file is uploaded, the utility will list the number of records uploaded in your file.

To import files that are in a custom format, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Admin-->Utilities-->File Imports.
  • Click on New.
  • Select Custom as the file type.
  • Click Browse to select your file.
  • Click Upload.
  • This will upload and map any fields that are recognized. Any fields unrecognized will be followed by a picklist containing standard import field names. Select the appropriate field names and click Import.

Once your file is uploaded, the utility will list the number of records uploaded in your file.

Once your file is uploaded, your record will be visible in the historical grid. The grid includes helpful information such as:

  • Import Name: File name for your import (Note that your original file will be renamed using the value of the ImportName parameter included in the file.)
  • Imported On: Date of import
  • File Type: Indicating the Import Type
  • Records Uploaded: Indicating the number of records in the file
  • Imported by: Indicating which staff member initiated the import

The utility is limited to files of 30MB or less. Larger files should be uploaded using FTP as documented here.

If you attempt to upload a file that is not formatted correctly for the Import Type selected, you will see an error message. The Custom Export allows you to upload data with non-standard column headers but still enforces the required fields and domain values of the Standard Import.

You must wait for the upload to complete before closing the Upload window. If you close the window before completion, the upload will fail.

Only files uploaded using this utility will be listed here. Files uploaded through FTP or using the Web Service are not listed.
